If you’re like me (i.e., spending 9 months of the year waiting for the 3 months where it is finally sunny and warm), you already know nothing sets off a summer outfit like the perfect accessory bag. I’ve spent ages researching all the best potential summer bags to take you to the beach, a picnic, or on errands. Check out some of the best bags to take you into summer below.
Loewe
Loewe has some of the best summer tote bags available in a variety of styles and materials – especially the Paula’s Ibiza line, which screams “summer beach day”!
I love the Anagram Basket bag pictured above, which comes in both brown and black. The double handles (both long and short) allow you to wear this bag over the shoulder as well as grip the straps with your hands.
The Loewe’s petal bag is one of the most unique beach bag silhouettes you will find. It sold out very quickly at the start of the summer but several sites have restocked since.
Lastly, I also love Loewe’s classic woven palm leave bag, which comes in multiple colors and you can find here. This will always be a classic for any summer occasion (I think for spending the day poolside especially).
Prada
Prada has some of the best color and pattern options for summer bags. This gingham tote is so fun and different, and is so spacious.
A ton of influencers have been carrying this wide-stitch crotcheted Prada bag this season. I love the versatility and how many colors the bag comes in; but I’d be a little worried about losing some of my smaller items (lipstick, jewelry) through the holes. Best for a backup change of clothes and sunscreen on a beach day.
Chloé
This Chloé bag is my personal choice for the 2023 summer season for a few reasons. One, the white ribbon and black lettering will match any outfit. Two, the size is a perfect carry-on or day bag. And three, the price for this bag (and other Chloe bags) is a little more reasonable than some other designer brands. Personally, I wanted to spend a little less on a summer tote bag, as I expect it will be constantly exposed to the elements (sun & sand).
Chloé is one of the best brands if you are looking for a classic bag with optionality. They have a variety of fabrics, textures, and colors, and no shortage of raffia/palm options.
Celine
I love Celine because they stick to simple and refined silhouettes. This classic woven Triomphe raffia bag looks a lot like the Loewe version mentioned above, but is a little more unique in my opinion.
Givenchy
A brand I often forget about, but I think they have done an excellent job with the classic summer tote bag this season. The raffia bag comes in both neutral and black.
Yves Saint Laurent
A twist on the classic Rive Gauche boxy tote bag, this YSL essential now comes in neutral raffia (rather than canvas) and is a summer staple.
When I started writing this post, I had not come across this YSL bag yet. But in doing my research on top summer bags, I stumbled across this crossbody and thought it was too adorable to not include. While my ideal summer bag is usually a tote bag (so you can toss sunscreen, a coverup, and snacks inside), this woven YSL crossbody would be adorable for any daytime or nighttime summer event.
